Spring Gingham

It’s no secret that I love a trench… but here we have one with a twist. Not only cut from gingham (celebrated cloth of the season), but said pattern including lilac? I’m sold.

I’ve styled it here with a black polo neck and trousers because, even though I’m ever the optimist and convinced I smell spring in the air, we are still braving those winter temperatures so lets keep things relevant and weather appropriate.

What I also love about this trench is the long oversized cut. When styled open I feel like I carry quite a presence— “Excuse me, coming through!”, and with buttons fastened and belt tied, the volume and length give it a dress like quality.

It’s worth mentioning that this trench is not the only must have piece from the M&S spring / summer collection. So do yourself a favour and head over there immediately. You’ll witness further temptations in the trench department, as well as some lovely pastel must haves which, as spring finally breaks through, will be essential to your everyday wardrobe.
