Over the past couple of months I’ve been giving a few products a try from a selction that DECIEM sent me, from brands The Ordinary and NIOD. Four of these products have had stand out results. I can honestly say my skin looks and feels better than it ever has.
So first up, NIOD. Frankly I was not sure what on earth Copper Amino Isolate Serum was (or CAIS as it’s widely known). I was also not even sure what it’s meant to do, but after using it in combination with the Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex (MMHC) I’m now convinced of it’s effectiveness in anti-ageing and general skin health. Skincare and beauty expert Caroline Hirons asked the founder Brandon for three sentences on each NIOD product and here’s what he said about the two I’ve been using:
CAIS – Copper Amino Isolate Serum
1. If you’re going to use 1 product from NIOD, use this one.
2. It focuses on skin health and not lines/wrinkles or specific signs of age.
3. It has a very high long-term value to the skin.
MMHC – Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex
1. If you’re going to use 2 products from NIOD, MMHC should be the second one.
2. It shows visible results faster than CAIS.
3. It provides visible anti-aging value quickly and in the long-term but, unlike CAIS, its long-term value to skin health and quality is limited, if any. Basically MMHC is a much more advanced version of Hylamide HA Booster.
And then there’s The Ordinary. I’m using the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion every evening after the MMHC. It’s a very gentle, lightweight serum that targets everything from fine lines and wrinkles to uneven skin tone, to prolong your skin’s youthful ‘bounce’ and radiance.
Now, I’m a fan of what peels do but not a fan of how my skin looks during the process. It can’t be avoided I admit, but I’m realising it’s all about timing as I’ve been caught out a few times now thinking what a great idea it would be to do a peel in advance of a special event, but having only applied the night before has left me red faced and nothing close to the demure glowing me that I’d planned… Anyway, AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a fantastic peel that does the job. Alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs) exfoliate the skin’s topmost layer for a brighter, more even appearance, while beta hydroxyl acids (BHAs) exfoliate the skin more deeply to clear pore congestion. The acids exfoliate during the ten minutes of application and not only battle blemishes but also boost radiance (woohoo!). Just remember to plan in when to apply it. I’d say two to three days before you want to look your best is a safe amount of time. And make sure you apply some TLC while your skin is recovering. I love to use the 350mhz Hydration Recovery oil to bring some calm after the storm…
